Who we are

The Friends of Bolehill Wood is a community group, formed in January 2021 by local residents who are concerned about the threat of development faced by the wood from any new owner. It is worth noting that many people refer to the woods as Cobnar Wood (hence the website name) however it is in fact Bolehill Wood – Cobnar Wood is on the opposite side of Cobnar Road and now forms part of Graves park. 

The top part of the wood was put up for sale by auction in January 2021 and over the years there have been a few failed planning applications to build, both on the top part of the wood and the bottom half the backs on Wellcarr Road. 

Our main aim is to protect this historic woodland from development, both for the local community who use it daily, and for the abundant wildlife that live in the woods.
